Happy New Year!
Join us for the High Holidays at Chabad ACT

Rabbi's Message

Dear Friend,

We at Chabad in our Nation's Capital join you in hope and prayer as together we approach the new Jewish year of 5779.

Together we'll listen to the call of the Shofar, taste the sweetness of the Apple-and-Honey and recommit to G-d on Yom Kippur.

Current events on the Australian political landscape has shown us all, just how fickle our "planned futures" really are. There's an old Yiddish expression: "a mentch tracht - un G-t lacht" meaning: "man makes plans - and G-d laughs" i.e. we do not have ultimate control over our own destiny.

Rosh Hashana is the time that G-d decides the fate of all of creation.

Join us this year to pray and celebrate together in our synagogues, in our communities — and with your pre-holiday preparation online at www.chabadact.com.au/highholidays

Our Holy Sages have taught us, that prayer carries within it a Divine power, to change our fate for the better.

Our Synagogue is open to all who wish to come and pray.

Wishing you to be written and sealed for a happy & sweet New Year!

Rabbi Shmueli Feldman - Chairman - Chabad ACT

Led by our experienced and energetic group leaders, we will provide fun and educational programs for your children while you attend services. Each group will enjoy age appropriate games, stories, discussions, refreshments, prayers and songs.

Children services will also be offered on Shabbat Shuva.

Programs runs in daytime from 11:00am to 1:00pm and in the evenings from 6:00pm-7:00pm

Tashlich Service

In the late afternoon of Rosh Hashana after services and Kiddush, the entire community joins together in a proud processional to the Giralang Ponds for the observance of tashlich. Representing the themes of renewal and rejuvenation, this tradition also has a way of demonstrating a spirit of communal solidarity as young and old march and sing together while en route to perform a fascinating mitzvah.
